I can’t understand the logic of FIG banning most Russian athletes — while allowing Russian administrators. Have these people not supported Putin’s war?

overview of Men’s Gymnastics

An excellent summing up of the sport — including some of the all time greats.

What are the 6 apparatuses in Men’s Gymnastics?

Jordan Chiles – Magically Delicious

Lucky Charms sent Jordan Chiles a custom “Gold Edition” box of her favourite cereal.

Gymnasts are marketable

According to SportsPro, gymnasts are two of the most marketable 10 athletes. In the USA?

  • Simone Biles #1
  • Rebeca Andrade #6

Don’t get too excited. Many experts believe the top 10 in the world should mostly be made up of male soccer players.

Gaylord from Weiler?

Update: I’d previously linked to this video calling it a Pegan from Weiler. Oops.

Thanks to Terry for correcting that.

Carl Meader

Mya Hooten – Bars collapse

Who’s to blame?

I’d say it’s FIG who approves ‘single point of failure’ equipment.

WHY in 2024 do we have equipment that falls down if one single part fails?

OBVIOUSLY there should be redundant anchors. And redundant chains. If one fails, the other keeps the apparatus from falling.

Commonwealth Games 2026 – Gymnastics

Artistic Gymnastics is one of 10 sports included in 2026 Commonwealth Games, to be hosted July 26 – Aug 2 in Glasgow.

Trampoline and Rhythmic were not selected.

On 18 July 2023, the Victorian state government cancelled its plans due to escalating cost projections. …

With no host, there was a risk that the Games might be postponed to 2027 or cancelled entirely. …

On 17 September 2024, it was announced that the Scottish government had agreed to host the games with financial backing from Commonwealth Games Australia.

The scaled-down and low-cost Games will feature 10 sports taking place over four venues and no athletes’ village.

Of course, Glasgow has a history of running superb Gymnastics competitions. The city hosted the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
