TICKETS for the Artistic World Gymnastics Championships 2026 in Rotterdam go on sale Oct. 17, 2025.
Skating Pairs Back Flip
Back flips are finally legal in Figure Skating.
Canadians Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps have become the first pair in history to incorporate a backflip into their program, a move banned by the International Skating Union until last season.
They got elite gymnast Rose Woo to coach them on the partner toss Back Flip.
Only Ilia Malinin and Adam Siao Him Fa in men’s singles have done backflips since the move was made legal.
Stellato-Dudek has not seen a female attempt one since Surya Bonaly famously executed the banned back somersault at the 1998 Olympics.
At the 2024 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal, Stellato-Dudek—at 40 years old—became the oldest woman to ever win a world title in any figure skating discipline.Â
She has no plans to retire after the 2026 Olympics, by the way. 😀

LIVE from Worlds in Jakarta
I’m posting LIVE from @GymCoaching on Twitter. Yes, the same company owned by MAGA NAZI Elon Musk. Sadly, it’s best for LIVE coverage. You MIGHT have to log-in to X.com to see them.

I MUST cheer for Kam Nelson as I coached him at camps when he was starting out at Avant Coeur Gymnastics in Idaho.
Also … 2 Triple Backs!
The Triples looked quite easy for him in Podium Training. But landing both inbounds in competition is a challenge.
Yulo is likely the man to beat as he is so clean. So consistent.
R.I.P. Alexander Dityatin
Alexander Dityatin won 8 medals at the boycotted 1980 Summer Olympics, setting the record for achieving the most medals of any type at a single Olympic Games to that time.
He died in October 2025. Age-68.
I’m shocked how many elite Russian gymnasts die young.
Is it the Vodka? Is it poor health care?

Venue for World Gymnastics Championships 2025 Jakarta
I’ve had a chance to look over the arena and training halls. Everything looks good to me.
MTC and WTC are doing venue tours. Getting ready for the gymnasts.
Aside from the last minute debacle of disallowing Israelis to compete, I’m impressed at how well things are set up.
The ban on Israel should have been made clear by the Indonesian government months ago. I don’t blame our organizing committee in Jakarta.
Download the PDF below if you want to know more about the venue.
