Concussion – the film

Have you seen Will Smith as Dr. Bennet Omalu, a Nigerian forensic pathologist who fights against efforts by the National Football League to suppress his research on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) brain degeneration suffered by professional football players?

Anyone who boxes or plays football should know the risks by now. I’m more concerned for coaches and athletes in sports who assume they are at low risk of micro-trauma injury to the brain. Trampoline? Artistic Gymnasts?

FINA World Series of Diving

The FINA Diving World Series is a diving competition series held annually since 2007.

This series is held around the world (the current series includes 4 events) where the divers collect points depending on their results to determine the World Series champions.

This series is reserved for only the best divers in the World …

Over 2 days, the first being All Japan Championships.  I’d say the King is ready for Rio.

After silver medals the past two Olympics, the Japanese are aiming to recapture the Olympic team title they last won in 2004. The NHK results show a Japanese team of the top five gymnasts will be tough to beat; calculating the top three scores on each event Thursday results in a team score of 278.45 — nearly than 8 points higher than the winning 270.818 that Japan scored in the Glasgow team final.

Uchimura Captures 8th Straight NHK Cup

Uchimura had already been named to the Olympic team. Kato was added based on this result. The rest of the team is yet to be named.
