John Carroll, Head Competitive Coach at the Surrey Gymnastic Society in BC, Canada:
Alanna needs our help! In August 2015, Alanna fell, more than 20 feet, out of a tree and suffered a life changing injury, breaking her neck. Alanna is currently a quadriplegic with no use of her legs and arms.
For the last 3 months she was fighting for her life and recovering at Vancouver General Hospital. Her family; Shelley, Gord, Kelsey and Kristy have been by her side through the whole recovery. At one point, doctors wanted Alanna to have an electronic device put into her to help her breathe without a respirator. She told them, ‘not yet’, as they had not yet given her a chance to try breathing on her own. So the challenge was on! The first time the respirator was turned off she breathed on her own for 25 minutes. She is now breathing completely on her own, showing there is no quit in this girl’s personality. …
… Alanna and her family will have a lot of expenses coming their way over the next few years for sure. …
Any small or large donation you are willing to make would be so appreciated, you have no idea.
