Diversity, equity, and inclusion (usually abbreviated DEI) are organizational frameworks which seek to promote “the fair treatment and full participation of all people”, particularly groups “who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination” on the basis of identity or disability.
In a few cases, DEI has gone too far. But these initiatives have been — for the most part — positive for society.
We all want everyone to have equal opportunity to participate.
Happily, the Arts and Sport are two domains that have suffered less racism and sexism over history.
Happily, Paris will be the 1st Olympics with gender parity.
Artistic Gymnastics is one sport where women are more prominent than men.
And things are better in all the Gymnastics sports in 2024 than any time in the past.
LGBTQ athletes feel more welcome in most democratic nations.
Dictatorships like Russia are still awful.
The big barrier remaining in modern nations is economic. Gymnastics sports are mostly expensive. Many families cannot afford to send their children to our classes.
