Hardy Fink – Be Gymnast Centered

I highly recommend this presentation.

Gymnastics is under review worldwide. We hear much about the problems.

Hardy Fink offers solutions.

Hardy has attended more World Championships & Olympics than anyone else. He’s the principle author of the FIG Age Group Programmes for all disciplines. And he’s led more FIG coach education courses worldwide than anyone else.

We should listen and learn.

Varsity Gymnastics, Calgary

I visited Calgary’s newest Gymnastics Facility.

Former Canadian National Team Head Coach Tony Smith was installing an ancient Pommel Horse above the entrance. Mason climbed up for some photos.

When the University of Calgary cancelled competitive Gymnastics programs, the club moved across the street into a Gym shared with Volleyball and Wrestling.

Double Olympian Nathan Gafuik is Head Coach. Joel Cornelius the Ninja Program Director. Mason Smith General Manager.

As inflatable buildings go, this one is excellent.

It’s a work in progress. I saw the plans for the above ground pit system.

Tony Smith is also a sales rep for AAI and Spalding so is well connected with facility design.

The Parkour / Ninja area will soon be completed. Certain to be very popular, located so close to Calgary’s biggest University.

Check them out at VarsityGymnastics.ca.

Parkour competition online

FIG has been running a virtual Parkour competition.

No need to travel to compete.

Parkour athletes are most expert at falling and landing safely.

Here are some video highlights.

Virtual Parkour Competition

Competitions run online would be a GREAT way to increase opportunities while decreasing travel costs.

But I’ve yet to see a model that really works for acrobatic sports.

FIG is promoting an online competition run by E-FISE.

From the teaser, I like the guy with the red shirt.
