The former Worlds Rings medalist — and cover boy — Brandon Wynn is Sam Pezek’s first male guest.
Brandon is now in the fitness world. He wants to make an impact in that field. With passion.
He recommends we should all have some things in our life that are non-negotiable. Including our personal fitness regime.
Brandon gets very specific on best practice for artistic strength training. Do your specific strength at the beginning of training. General strength and exhaustion training at the end.
The goal is for the competition routine to feel exactly the same as in training. Brandon is a smart guy. He recognizes now some of the mistakes he made in his own career. He would have competed at a lower weight, for example.
At European Championships the Rings panel had SmartRings v6 software. It’s developed in Netherlands.
Deductions for strength hold flagged by that software were shown as extra deductions not included in the E-score.
I did see several occasions where the panel double checked the software by watching the video after the routine was finished. Perhaps it’s not foolproof yet.
Nobody I’ve spoken with knows exactly how it works. GBR coach Lee Woolls did post this.

This is the first medal for a gymnast from Turkey.
After quite a good set on Rings, Goossens went sprawling towards the TV camera. ☹️

Many of the Juniors used that Felge to L-sit as a transition. No deduction for a skill in hang.

UEG recap – Russian juniors take team gold while Nicolo Mozzato earns all-around crown
#Legend Olympic champ went 6.300 + 8.833 during the first rotation, first subdivision. He’ll qualify to the Final easily, likely in 1st ranks.
I had his E-score at about 9.20. He’s tough to deduct aside from the landing.
Two judges have SmartRings screens right in front of their faces. GREEN means you met minimum requirements for holding strength in an isometric position.
Petrounias holds as long and as steadily as anyone.

I could see him trying this in the final.

Why does the International Gymnastics Federation approve apparatus with a single point of failure?
If one part fails, the entire apparatus falls.
For SAFETY and reliability redundancy should be required. For example, two chains instead of one.
