Lee Chih-Kai withdraws from Worlds

One of the favourites for the Pommel Final, we were surprised when Lee Chih-Kai didn’t appear with the Taiwan team for Podium training.

It sounds like he had to withdraw for Covid reasons.

Very, very few are masked in the arena. Notably most of the Chinese and Japanese coaches.

Stephen Nedoroscik – Podium Pommels

The defending World Champion had planned to do just first half on this approach.

BUT as it went well, he decided to finish the excellent routine.

He’s still getting used to the Gymnova Pommel Horse. Different than the AAI he trains on at home.

USA MAG Worlds Trial day 2

Donnell Whittenburg and Brody Malone already qualified for Worlds.

WHO will be selected for the other 3 competition spots. Plus traveling alternate.

Day 2 AA results were not all that great:

1. Shane Wiskus 82.900
2. Colt Walker 82.800
3. Yul Moldauer 82.700
4. Asher Hong 81.500

USA has a chance at top 3 teams in Liverpool. Therefore they should be taking chances to try to finish 3rd, not 4th. TOP THREE automatically qualify to Olympics Paris.

Kensley Behel was on site for GymCastic. LIVE tweeting @kensleyanne. Kensley will be at Worlds, as well.

PREDICTIONS:

The team is weak on Pommels and H Bar. The defending World Champion likely earned his spot with this set today.

Lauren’s recap:

Qualifications at the Paris Challenge Cup wrapped up today with the U.S. women taking the top spots on vault and beam, while the Brazilians led on bars and floor, extending a new rivalry that kicked off when the Brazilian women upset the Americans in the team final at Pan As over the summer.

Brazil and the United States also had a lot of success in the MAG competition, with Brazil leading in the top two spots on vault, while the U.S. took the lead on p-bars, though it was mostly smaller-program specialists who led the rest of the competition, including Israel on floor, Ireland on pommels, Turkey on rings, and Cyprus on high bar. โ€ฆ
