Charlotte Drury at the Test Meet
Charlotte Drury, an American trampoline gymnast, has dreamed of the Olympics for as long as she can remember.
After spending 10 years training as an artistic gymnast (alongside childhood best friends and future Olympic gold medalists Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney), Drury strayed from the conventional path and started paving one of her own. After discovering trampoline gymnastics at the age of 13, Drury made the US National Team within two years and is now, at 19, in position to take her own shot at Olympic glory.

Tough call for the judges. In the end it was 16.325 for Max and 16.100 for Louis. Both scores a little too high, in my opinion. Neither hit their best set. But as for ranking, I can’t decide.
Louis later complained about the judging in social media. Then apologized.

Russell Mills – 1964 Pommels
This is the winning routine in the 1964 AAU Nationals (the precursor to the USGF and USA gymnastics). Mills also won the NCAA Championships in 1963 and 1964, coached by Don Tonry and . competing for Yale University. When Mills hit his routines, he was unbeatable in the US and probably by anyone in the world at that time. There was no international competition for specialists during the period. The mount here is a back Moore, caught a bit late by the camera.

first look Rio Gymnastics venue
Though media accreditation does not start until tomorrow, I dropped by the arena a day early.
It is as green as we’d heard.
Perhaps offsetting highlight colours will (later) make the venue more visually appealing.
The Gym looks ready. Outside venue construction continues.
I jogged over from my hotel about a mile away. But this room is BEST for the die hard Gymnastics fan. 🙂
