USA still would have won the team competition, even with Simone competing for one of the other teams. Click through for details.

The alternates in Rio who did not get to compete should have a friendly at one of the local Gyms. Ashton would win the alternates Gold medal on Bars. π

Tutya Yilmaz – Beam
This is why I love the Olympics.
A fantastic routine from a gymnast from Turkey. A Muslim nation thatβs suffered huge turmoil in the weeks leading up to Rio. Congratulations Tutya. Thatβs one of our highlight routines of the Games.

One goal of the Olympics is to inspire kids from around the world. Toni-Ann’s clearly done that. π
Bill Murray’s Olympic proposal
Great idea. π
Thanks Barbara Anne.
Yuri van Gelder expelled
Dutch gymnast Yuri van Gelder has been expelled from the Olympic Games by the Dutch Olympic Committee and will be sent home immediately for violating team rules, including consuming alcohol. β¦
In 2009, van Gelder was suspended from competition for one year by the KNGU after testing positive for cocaine during a competition. He underwent a three-month drug treatment in Scotland. However, in October 2010, he was withdrawn from the world championships in Rotterdam after admitting subsequent cocaine use.
He will be replaced in the Rings final by French gymnast Danny Pinheiro Rodrigues.
Japan, Russia, China – Olympic Champions
A crazy competition with many unexpected errors and issues
I’m very happy for Kohei. This was his goal.
Men’s Gymnastics Team Final
Most are predicting Japan & China top 2. Could go either way. But after falling on H Bar in prelims, something tells me this guy is going to be fired up. The team gold is his highest priority in Rio.
Kohei is doing all 6 in the team competition. Oleg only PH and PB for Ukraine, saving himself for the Men’s AA battle on Wednesday. Smart. He has a very good chance to upset the King.
Format changes from prelims. Today it’sΒ 5-3-3.
5 gymnasts per team, 3 compete and the 3 scores count.
