Kelly Manjak, coach of Olympic gold medalist Kyle Shewfelt, often says he wants to use no more than 3 progressions for each target skill.
If that doesn’t work, … consider adding a 4th progression.
He wants to reach the objective efficiently. Specifically.

First off question your conditioning program. Many of our exercises we prescribe because of tradition.
Why rope climb? What is the purpose?
Many of our conditioning exercises are too general. Too many are directed towards muscular endurance when we need muscular strength / power.

Later you need add strength training (10 Repetition Maximum or less), of course.
