USA TOPS 2017 teams named

Gymnasts who participated in the two-day testing and their parents were invited to a parent meeting with Liukin, Kim Riley, managing director of athlete programs for USA Gymnastics, Tami Davis, TOPs camp coordinator, and Annie Heffernon, Junior Olympic program coordinator for USA Gymnastics.

During the meeting, parents watched a film from Toby Stark, director of safe sport for USA Gymnastics, regarding USA Gymnastics’ latest safe sport policies and initiatives. Over the two-day camp, parents were invited to tour the National Team Training Center.

teach Takemoto, not Adler

Adler (Eagle) is what the FIG Code calls the Stoop circle rearward forward on H Bar.

Stoop shoot we always called it in my Gym.

Unless the gymnasts is extremely flexible, there’s a chance to do damage to the shoulders training stoop shoot.

Ideally we’d teach Adler 1/2 (Takemoto) and 1/1 without doing the Adler itself.

… gymnastics still fears using external waits for kettlebells as part of their strength work.

The reality is that gymnasts under proper supervision with the proper technique are at a low risk of losing their flexibility, getting bulky, or getting hurt.

In this post, I hope to dive into some of the myths and misunderstandings that still exist in gymnastics, and talk about why I’m such a fan of using a more hybrid based model of traditional gymnastic strength and nontraditional strength.

Gymnastics and Lifting Weights: Don’t Fear Plates, Kettlebells, and Barbells.

For sure body weight resistance is best for specific conditioning. But I agree that supplementary general conditioning with free weights, kettle bells and even barbells should be considered for some kids, some phases of the year. Especially for female gymnasts who are not likely to get bulky.

Ryan McKee is a sexual offender

A FORMER Commonwealth Games gymnast who represented Scotland has been spared jail for sex charges against schoolgirls.

Ryan McKee, 25, knew the girls were 14 when he became involved with them through the gymnastics club where he coached. …

McKee was given a community payback order with 250 hours unpaid to be carried out within nine months.

He has not to be in contact with girls under 16 and for the next eight months has to remain within his home between 8pm and 8am.

He will also be on the sex offenders register for three years. …

The title role in “The Simone Biles Story” (working title) will be played by Jeanté Godlock.

The Lifetime biopic is set to air in 2018.

1st FIG Jr. World Championships Artistic & Rhythmic

For good or bad, World Jr. Championships are planned for 2019.
