FIG Gymnastics Ethics Foundation

I do like them using the word ETHICS as it includes much more than just protecting athletes from predators.

The creation of this new structure, called the “Gymnastics Ethics Foundation”, will be put to a vote of the FIG’s national member federations at the next Congress, to be held in Baku (AZE) on 2-3 December 2018. …

According to the Constitution of the Foundation, it will have responsibility for:

– monitoring the good governance and ethical principles of the FIG;

– managing disciplinary procedures;

– safeguarding athletes and other participants in Gymnastics from harassment and abuse. …

The Foundation will be made up of three sections:

– A Safeguarding section, including a helpdesk for reporting any case of harassment or abuse. This section will be responsible for carrying out an initial assessment of any complaints, accusations and facts reported. It will also provide legal support if needed.

– A Disciplinary section which will include the two disciplinary bodies already in place, the Disciplinary Commission and Appeal Tribunal.

– A Compliance section to monitor good governance and ethical principles of the FIG.

David Vecsernyes – H Bar

Fans love this guy. Especially the dismount.

He’s too tall for FIG apparatus. Hungary raise the Bar for him.

Sam interviews Brandon Wynn

The former Worlds Rings medalist — and cover boy — Brandon Wynn is Sam Pezek’s first male guest.

Brandon is now in the fitness world. He wants to make an impact in that field. With passion.

He recommends we should all have some things in our life that are non-negotiable. Including our personal fitness regime.

Brandon gets very specific on best practice for artistic strength training. Do your specific strength at the beginning of training. General strength and exhaustion training at the end.

The goal is for the competition routine to feel exactly the same as in training. Brandon is a smart guy. He recognizes now some of the mistakes he made in his own career. He would have competed at a lower weight, for example.

Epke still flying

Some think Dr. Epke Zonderland is retired.

Olly Hogben – Sports Commentator

If you watched European Championships online you heard many fun puns from this guy.

He’s doing Asian Games next. But is NOT one of the Gymnastics announcers. He’ll be doing other sports.

… those strange deductions on Rings

At European Championships the Rings panel had SmartRings v6 software. It’s developed in Netherlands.

Deductions for strength hold flagged by that software were shown as extra deductions not included in the E-score.

I did see several occasions where the panel double checked the software by watching the video after the routine was finished. Perhaps it’s not foolproof yet.

Nobody I’ve spoken with knows exactly how it works. GBR coach Lee Woolls did post this.
