CRAZY idea – teach Pak before Flyaway

Has anyone ever done this?

Most WAG coaches probably don’t have this option due to competition requirements on Bars …

… but I’d love to try a generation who trained Pak first, simultaneously with forward Flyaway.

I’d delay teaching backwards Flyaway as long as possible.

related – Jeff Pauliuk once started teaching a group of pre-comp girls Blind Change before Giant backward. They could see where they were going.

It was working well, I thought, but Jeff left the group after one year.

Collegiate Gymnastics Growth Initiative

Donations gratefully accepted.

The Collegiate Gymnastics Growth Initiative (CGGI) was formed to promote awareness in the pursuit and addition of new women’s collegiate gymnastics programs across the country, thus providing more opportunities for college bound gymnasts.

We would like to extend an invitation to gymnastics clubs nationwide to support and assist our initiative’s needs through donations.

André Simard to the Order of Canada

A former Men’s National Coach has been honoured by his nation.

André Simard of Saint-Agathe-des-Monts, Que., who has worked with Cirque du Soleil since 1987, is being appointed a member “for his expertise in choreographing spectacular acrobatic and aerial acts for the circus arts, both in Canada and on the world stage.”

Simard was also a three-time Canadian men’s all around gymnastic champion who represented Canada at the Munich Olympics before moving into a training role for young gymnasts.

“All my life, I have given the best of myself unconditionally to my athletes, student artists and employers. I am very proud of that,” he said in a statement.

“I would especially like to thank Jean Paul Marcil and Richard Montpetit, who guided me throughout my career as a gymnast, and all those who have accompanied me along the many paths my life has taken. ”

New Year’s Resolution = Work / Life balance

At a recent Canadian course career coaches were reflecting whether or not they were workaholics.

Many were.

Several resolved to find a better balance in future.

He wants to qualify as a H Bar specialist to Tokyo. Dreams of winning a medal.

Epke Zonderland is the specialist to beat at the moment, I’d say.
