FIG Gymnastics Ethics Foundation

The Council of the new Gymnastics Ethics Foundation held its first ever meeting on 19 February in Lausanne. …

As the Foundation’s supreme body, the Council defines its strategy and ensures that it is functioning properly. The following eminent personalities have accepted to become the Council’s first members.

The Foundation is made up of three sections: a “Safeguarding” section, including a helpdesk for reporting any case of harassment or abuse; a”Disciplinary” section, which includes the two existing FIG disciplinary bodies, the Disciplinary Commission and the Appeal Tribunal; and a “Compliance” section, to monitor good governance and respect for the ethical principles of the FIG. …

Félix Dolci wins Canada Winter Games

In stunning fashion, Québec’s Félix Dolci came back from a pommel horse deficit to claim the Canada Games gold medal with 80.150 points in the all around that he almost won four years ago in Prince George.

Teammate Félix Blaquière who led the competition for several middle rotations until faltering on parallel bars finished in a silver medal tie with David Sandro of Ontario, both with 78.600 points.

Ontario’s Chris Kaji came back from a devastating pommel horse routine with a spectacular meet-high 14.900 score on rings and top score on parallel bars of 14.200 to earn the third-highest total score of 78.550 …

In a closely fought battle for individual all around glory, in which the top four gymnasts competed their Level 10 routines with 10.0 start values, the top two teammates from Québec took gold and silver.

Chloé Lorange competing last on floor won the gold medal with top scores on bars, beam, and floor totalling 37.787 points. Fellow Club Gymnix gymnast Myrelle Morin of Montréal who led the qualifications claimed the silver medal with 37.574 points. …

Hannah Scharf of Shenderey Gymnastics Institute in Newmarket, Ontario led the first rotation on vault claimed the bronze medal with solid performances on her other apparatus.
