narrow Yurchenko hand mat

I’m a big fan of narrow hand mats for beginners. They should place their hands as much as possible like tumbling for as long as possible.

Eventually – when strong and fast enough – they will (most likely) “overturn” their hands which requires the FIG width hand mat.

Arianna Robinson – Handspring Handspring Front

Watching 12 Yurchenko fulls made for a dull dual meet in the past. I feel devaluing that vault to 9.95 maximum has worked. There’s more incentive for other vaults. Like this one. 🙂
