Floor
1. Artur Dalaloyan (RUS) 14.9
2. Kenzo Shirai (JPN) 14.866
3. Carlos Yulo (PHI) 14.6
You could argue that Yul Moldauer (USA) 14.566 should have been Bronze.
Yulo is the biggest happy surprise of Worlds 2018. Congratulations Philippines. π
Pommels
1. Xiao Rutoeng (CHN) 15.166 ***
2. Max Whitlock (GBR) 15.166 ***
3. lee Chih Kai (TPE) 14.966
Second ever Worlds medal for TPE.
Max hit 3/3 in Doha. He lost the tie break due to having lower E-score.

Petrounias was doubtful to compete Worlds. He has shoulder surgery scheduled in 3 days.
Zanetti was fantastic. You might argue he was even better thanΒ Petrounias. There’s not much to separate the very best Ring men.

Bars
1. Nina Derwael BEL 15.200
2. Simone Biles USA 14.700
3. Elisabeth Seitz GER 14.600
The best line-up of any apparatus this year.
Nina has been unbeatable all season. A deserving World Champion.

Nobody in the world βΒ aside from Valentina, I’m guessing β questions whether Nina deserves Gold. But judges gave her 8.7 E-score. That’s too high compared with Simone’s 8.5 E-score. Aliya was cleaner than both yet was only awarded 8.633.
Very well equipped. It’s one of the Inspire Sports clubs that has a number of locations in China.

Nina had a terrific meet to finish a Belgian record 4th AA. That with only a full twisting Yurchenko.

The worlds silver medalist AA is legit top 3 contender on 3 apparatus. But she needs to improve Bars before Tokyo. Though HIT … these releases lack amplitude and are all caught a little close.

I joked she should go train with Laurent for a while. π

That’s the big story.
Any of the next 6 could have ended up on the podium. It was a thriller.
1. Simone Biles USA 57.491π₯
2. Mai Murakami JPN 55.798 π₯
3. Morgan Hurd USA 55.732 π₯
4. Nina Derwael BEL 55.699
5. Angelina Melnikova RUS 55.698
6. Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos 55.599

Angelina and Artur Dalaloyan awarded the Longines Prize for Elegance. Good call. I would have been happy to see Nina Derwael awarded too.

Though Xiao Ruoteng and Dalaloyan ended up tied, I’ve yet to hear even one slow motion video judge conclude that the final AA ranking should have been different.
