Omar Mohamed & Uche Eke to Tokyo

The top 2 eligible AA competitors from African Championships (maximum 1/nation) earn Olympic spots.

One GOAL of the Olympics is worldwide participation.

Uche Eke is the first Olympian to represent Nigeria in Gymnastics.

I’m astonished an African nation as large and comparatively affluent has been so slow to develop the sport. Hopefully Uche will inspire progress.

Uche is actually from Maryland. Competed for Michigan.

FIG working group on ‘safeguarding’

This working group, chaired by Ms Donatella Sacchi, President of the FIG Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee, aims to propose and support various projects to drive positive cultural change in the Gymnastics world.

… a living group, meaning that rather than … permanent members, people from different backgrounds will be invited to take part in meetings depending on the main focus of the discussion.

Marcel Nguyen injured out of Tokyo

Marcel Nguyen is now age-33.

He was the winner of the 2012 London Olympics in the AA — of the non-Kohei competitors.
