1. Keep it short
2. Use a positive frame of vocabulary
3. Use very descriptive language
4. Use neutral tone / body language
5. Critique technique, not the gymnast
6. Be encouraging about making the fix
7. If there’s no change, try a different correction

James Hall defended his All Around title with a solid and convincing performance, as expected. But I don’t think anyone expected the incredible battle that Dominick Cunningham put up against him, coming only 0.15 off the title.

It really came down to the wire between the two of them- both performing their final routines at the exact same time, and either of them would’ve deserved to win, both on a whole other level to the rest of the competitors that day. …

For me, aside from the intense battle for All Around gold, the day belonged to 2 people, neither of which competed on 6 events: Courtney Tulloch and Gauis “Jay” Thompson. …

… the thing about Courtney is that this time he wasn’t just a rings guy, competing on 4 events and hitting all 4 of them, with a few uncontrolled floor landings being his only big errors. The most exciting thing though was actually his vault, where he brought out a huge Dragulescu, to the surprise of… pretty much everyone. …
