Ellie Black wins Paris Olympics Fair Play Award

Having followed Ellie’s Elite career closely, I’d confirm that there’s no more enthusiastic booster of the sport who’s so respectful of others. Ellie will take time to encourage young gymnasts everywhere she goes.

Scott Bregman:

Four-time Canadian gymnastics Olympian Ellie Black has won the Paris 2024 Fair Play Award …

The award, a joint initiative by the IOC and CIFP, recognises athletes who exemplify the spirit of fair play, sportsmanship, and respect for others. …

“It was a real joy to have a list of over 20 good candidates living the values of Fair play during the Olympics, and in Ellie we have a well-deserving winner.” stated HSH The Princess Nora of Lichtenstein a member of the Jury …

false accusations are rare

Sexual harassment is still common in 2024.

Mostly men harassing women and girls.

It’s not often reported — sadly — for multiple reasons.

When reported, I guesstimate far more than 90% of accusations are true.

Of course accused are innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. If you happen to see a possible incident in public, start videotaping. Evidence.

2024 Summer Paralympics Paris

The Summer Paralympics begin August 28th.

While far less popular with the general public, we should appreciate that some of these athletes train as hard as anyone. There will be some fantastic stories out of the Games.

Something tells me you best not mess with Bebe Vio, defending Paralympic champion in the foil B category.

deep dive – Men’s Gymnastics in Paris

I learned a lot from listening to Kensley and Sam recap the Paris Games.

Both were unconvinced by the judging of the Floor Apparatus Final.

Should Yulo have won Gold?

Paul Hall stepped down as British Gymnastics men’s head national coach. Recall he was appointed in 2018 after Eddie van Hoof was removed. Eddie is now leading the resurgent Canadian team.

Kensley was in Paris as an analyst. Shares some behind the scenes stories.

Sam talks much about strategy, team building, and psychology of competing at the highest level.

He has advice on what the USA needs for Los Angelos 2028.
