John Prine was a gymnast. R.I.P.

Many of my generation were big fans of John Prime.

The singer songwriter died April 7, 2020 of complications caused by COVID-19.

Age-73.

Prine competed for Proviso East High School in the Chicago suburbs. Chicago was well known for excellent Pommels in that era.

“… it was gymnastics that got me through high school!”

3-time Olympic trampoline medallist Karen Cockburn

I’ve always been a huge fan of Karen Cockburn.

Her autobiography, called Karen Cockburn: Soaring High, was published in November 2007.

FIG posted an excellent new interview:

… the first – and to date, the only – woman to win three Olympic medals in Trampoline, establishing Canada as one of the premier Trampoline nations along the way.

The medal-winning precedent Cockburn set with her bronze in 2000 and silvers in 2004 and 2008 was carried on by her friend and training partner Rosie MacLennan, who took gold in 2012 and 2016. …

What is the effect that your coach Dave Ross has had on Trampoline Gymnastics in Canada?

KC: You would need to write an entire book on this topic to truly know the impact he has had. Dave’s athletes have won seven Olympic medals. All of these athletes he has personally trained since they were about 10 years old. …
