Oleg hit 6/6 🙂 to finish ahead of Uchimura, the first time that’s happened in any competition in YEARS.

It’s sudden victory in the AA final, of course. I’d still call Uchimura the favourite.

It was a rough meet. Most people expected a far higher HIT rate than we saw.

terrible injury to Samir Aït-Saïd

I don’t want to watch the video. 😦

Samir

USA Today

It was a compound fracture of his tibia/fibula. He will have surgery in Rio.

Recall Samir missed the 2012 Olympic Games because of a knee injury on Dragulescu at the European championships in Monptellier.

There’s too much incentive to throw dangerous vaults in both MAG & WAG. I blame FIG rules. 😦

Fabian Hambüchen spoke out to the media on this point after his teammate Toba was injured.

Bretschneider falls on his named skill

No Bretschneider in the H Bar Final. 😦

Epke should make it, however.

Germany is in BIG trouble as a team after Toba was injured on his first tumbling pass. 😦

Incredibly, Toba limped back on to the podium and completed a PH routine for 14.233. Fabian hasn’t been training Pommels.

Ri Se Gwang – Dragulescu pike

The favourite for Gold on Vault. His second vault was equally difficult, equally well done.

Scott Morgan – Floor

The only man crazy enough to punch front out of double layout.

Click PLAY or watch it on Facebook. Outside chance of qualifying for the Final.

Thanks Dorina.

Team Brazil rocked Olympic prelims

Following subdivision 1

1. Japan 269.294
2. Brazil 268.078
3. Netherlands 257.686
results

Brazil scored 8.501 points ahead of their 2015 Worlds total. They’ll easily qualify through to the Team final.

Though they competed only 3 gymnasts on Pommels, P Bars & H Bar, the team had no falls. It’s a best ever international team performance.
