The new FIG Education Commission, which held its very first meeting at the Federation’s headquarters in Lausanne June 15-16, looked into areas from A to Z that can be included in the field of development for helping and supporting athletes, judges and coaches. …

FIG pushing forward with Parkour

Next on the roadmap is the appointment of a FIG Parkour Committee which shall work in three areas, education, development and competitions.

This Committee shall be chaired by David Belle and composed of Charles Perrière and other Parkour experts as well as two athletes’ representatives (one male and one female). …

The roadmap also seeks to provide the staging of a series of Parkour World Cups in 2018 and 2019 together with a first FIG World Championships planned in 2020. …

As for education and development, the Parkour Committee shall be in charge of preparing educational tools for youngsters and coaches’ education programs with a view to put in place a framework in which the amateurs will be able to evolve progressively and in a safe environment. …

Institut national du sport du Québec

Following National Championships in Montreal, an advanced Canadian Gymnastics and Trampoline coaching course was hosted at the new INS facility in the 1976 Olympic Stadium.

Clinicians include Kelly Manjak, Denis Vachon, Keith Russell, Bev Dickinson, Tony Smith, J.F. Mathieu.

The INS reminds me somewhat of the Aspire complex in Doha, Qatar.

Montreal hosts Worlds 2017. Doha hosts 2018. People will be able to compare.

Fencing, Judo, Synchronized Swimming, Swimming, Short Track Speed Skating, Diving and Water Polo are other resident sports at INS.
