World Games Aerobic Gymnastics – July 21-22

Group categories of Aerobic Gymnastics (Mixed Pairs, Trios, Groups, Aerobic Dance and Aerobic Step) are the main focus of this fast-paced discipline in Wroclaw, where six teams per category will battle for four places in the final. Reigning World champions in Trio, Group, and Aerobic Dance have registered to compete, as have Mixed Pairs champions Michela Castoldi and Davide Donati (ITA), the “Romeo and Juliet” of their sport.

Trampoline to Diving

Gymnastics to Diving? That’s quite common.

But a former national level Trampolinist Krysta Palmer just won a medal at the World Championships.

She was a two-time NCAA All-American diver.

On Tuesday, the 25-year-old earned a bronze medal in the mixed 3-meter/10-meter team event at the FINA World Championships. Paired with David Dinsmore, the duo combined to score 395.90 points on six dives. …

The medal was the first for Team USA in the 2017 meet and the first in the event in the country’s history. …

USAG safe sport

USA Gymnastics has hired two key senior staff members as the organization continues its ongoing efforts to protect athletes.

Toby Stark, a long-time leader in child advocacy, will serve as USA Gymnastics’ director of safe sport. In that role, Stark will lead a department focused on athlete protection.

Mark Busby, who handled child abuse and sex crime cases while with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, will provide supporting in-house legal counsel. …
