IOC statement on Women’s Boxing

Two female boxers being criticized online are competitors in good standing with the IOC. They’ve competed for many years and meet all eligibility criteria.

Certainly the International Boxing Association bungles many things, this being simply the most recent. If I was on the IOC I’d vote to drop that sport from Olympic competition.

Women’s Olympic Trampoline Final

Bryony Page now has GOLD, SILVER, and BRONZE Olympic medals.

Flavia is tough

With insufficient time to do a full concussion check after a Bars fall, Flavia went straight back to compete.

summing up the Olympic AA Final

Simone

With a four-apparatus total of 59.131 points, the 27-year-old joined legends Larisa Latynina (URS) and Vera Caslavska (TCH) Thursday as the only women to capture two Olympic titles in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.

… silver medallist Rebeca Andrade (BRA) and bronze medallist Sunisa Lee (USA) …

… Andrade gave her a run for her money. She lead after two apparatus and finished only 1.199 points behind Biles — the smallest margin of any of Biles’s World or Olympic or All-Around victories since 2015.

… I found this competition stressful. Especially after Simone had a major error on Bars.

She stayed relaxed.
