National Girls and Women in Sports Day
In the USA since 1987, launched by Ronald Reagan, National Girls and Women in Sports Day … to acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes, recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honour the progress and continuing struggle for equality for women in sports.
Women’s Gymnastics is in a unique position to lead this struggle. It’s one of the highest visibility sports where the women are more popular than men with the general public.

Peggy Liddick suspended 4 months
The Australian National Coach 1997 – 2016 had a number of complaints from gymnasts.
Two of those allegations were found to be valid.
Membership in the Federation is suspended for a period of four (4) months from 19 January 2022, however the suspension is wholly suspended for a period of 2 years from above date, subject to Ms Liddick not breaching any relevant Policy within that period (whether such breach is found proved during or after the end of the 2-year period).
Ms Liddick is also required to provide a written apology to the Complainant.

Personally, I rank UCLA as one of the top teams for defending and promoting social justice.
Head Coach Chris Waller is one of the most experienced and accomplished coaches in College Gymnastics.
But this situation is a disaster. We still don’t know whether to blame the school administration, the coaches or the lawyers. Probably all three.
Professor of marketing Scott Galloway advises organizations do three things in case of crisis:
- Top person steps up quickly and addresses the issue personally.
- Acknowledge the problem. Take responsibility.
- Over-correct.
None of that happened.
If you are not up to speed, read what the general public is seeing:
UCLA gymnastics stood united against racial injustice, then was ripped apart by it
I should add that LSU seems to have handled things about as well as they could. Communication was clear.
