Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat, Olympic Floor champion in Tokyo, won gold again on Sunday at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Munich.
Dolgopyat, 25, was born in Ukraine to a Jewish father and non-Jewish mother and immigrated 13 years ago.
It was in the same Olympic venue as the Munich massacre by 8 members of the Palestinian terrorist group Black September.
“I’m exhausted, but happy. I did what I could," Dolgopyat said in an interview after the competition. "I have some issues with my foot. I only prepared for the championship two weeks in advance, but I did it and I’m happy." https://t.co/ptGsaN1yT5
It’s a good sign that more nations around the world are competitive at the highest levels.
I wonder how long Belarus and ROC / Russia will be out. Until Putin withdraws from Ukraine, I assume.
