Mykayla Skinner – Floor

Judging “mitigation“:

… lessening the force or intensity of something unpleasant … the act of making a condition or consequence less severe …

Like it or not, judges are influenced by difficulty. MyKayla’s routine is far, far more difficult than any other in NCAA. Many judges evaluate it less severely than the comparatively simple 10.0 routines with only 2 tumbling lines.

Personally I feel the NCAA is ready for rule changes rewarding more difficulty legally. O’Hashi on Beam, Peng on Bars, Mykayla on Floor, the double twisting Yurchenkos, etc.

the “Naddour” on Pommels

Cool. A single pommel Russian on one hand. Connected to Russian.

I’d consider this a unique new skill family. Sounds like FIG MTC disagrees. 😦

Ashleigh Gnat 10.0 Vault

Looks fantastic in full speed. But check the slow-mo.

Still, I’ve got no complaint with that score.

Darren Wong 9.45 E-score Floor

The 2020 Men’s Code of Points on Floor is resulting in routines just as ugly as the 2016 Code. Gymnasts rushing through only attempting to maximize D-score.

One guy with control and style is Canadian Junior Darren Wong from Phoenix, Vancouver. Coached by Sasha Pozdniakov who loves good basics.
