The Busy Fan was surprised to hear of all the hate directed towards Al Trautwig during the Olympics.

After all, he’s the everyman of the NBC Primetime commentary team. The one who’s supposed to make the casual fan feel less stupid in not understanding all the nuance.

NBC Primetime seems to work for the casual fan. Coaches should watch pretty much any other source of coverage. All are better for us than NBC Primetime.

Who Is Al Trautwig?

Personally I always enjoy listening to Tim Daggett. He’s a coach. He knows what he’s talking about. Of the three he does by far the most research in advance of the competition.

One man’s opinion:

1 – Gymnastics
2 – Track
3- Swimming

Great Britain had an excellent Olympics. Still benefiting from 2012 investments. In fact they finished ahead of China in the medal table.

Rowing was funded double that of Gymnastics. A good investment?
