It’s not clear whether or not insurance will cover this kind of loss. 😦
Dunedin Gymnastics Academy will have to write off more than $100,000 worth of equipment after health and safety tests last week revealed traces of asbestos on the rafters and window sills.

Sorry to hear the bad news, Imogen.
Do you put down your right or left hand first on round-off?

Are you a a right or left twister on saltos in the air?

It has something to do with the differences between the right and left sides of your brain.

related – Bill Sands’ study of 171 high level WAG gymnasts indicated that right hand first on roundoff gymnasts tend to twist to the right in the air. Left hand first gymnasts tend to twist left. That means the majority are able to compete Kasamatsu vault. (A minority would compete the more difficult Tsukahara full.)
In Men’s Artistic that percentage is even higher. Certainly well over 90% of male gymnasts can do Kasamatsu.
Queen Elizabeth posted an excellent preview:
… Andrei Rodionenko says that the Russian government has not set the team a medal winning target, but that they hope to match their medal tally from London four years ago – eight in total across MAG and WAG. Considering the waning fortunes of the women’s team, the men will probably be expected to provide a greater proportion of gymnastics medals than they did in London – but, of course, the competition is much deeper than WAG, so this may present problems.

Shallon has a good shot at Rio. She has very high difficulty on Floor and Vault. Moreover, I can’t recall her ever missing a tumbling pass or vault in competition. Consistency might be even more important than final potential score when selecting the traveling team.

Canada will announce all their MAG and WAG Olympic teams on the same day. Following the WAG Olympic Camp in Quebec.
