Canadian Comp 1 coaching course
Thanks Kyna Fletcher and Phoenix Gymnastics Vancouver for once again hosting our intensive 4 day Competition 1 coaching course. Phoenix is a leader in coach education.
The course is digital. Video and PDF.
Coaches can annotate the PDFs or print the material. Coach Kipp got his printed and bound for only $20.
Personally, I’m going to bring both printed and digital copies to future courses. As one coach noted: “Print copies don’t run out of battery in the middle of the session.”

Alyssa Baumann Injured, Withdraws from Olympic Trials
Terrible timing.
Alyssa is one of those inspiring future generations of gymnasts around the world.
Jazzy Foberg, Bailie Key and Norah Flately will not be competing. Gymnastics is a dangerous sport. At any one time a high percentage of gymnasts are injured. 😦

Shallon Olsen & Rose Woo – Olympians
Isabela Onyshko, Brittany Rogers & Ellie Black were named first.
Shallon & Rose must complement that team.
Shallon will almost certainly compete Vault and Floor in 3-up, 3-count (assuming Canada makes the top 8 teams).
Rose will almost certainly compete Beam.

The alternates should be strong AA gymnasts. Megan and Maddie are. Either could be moved up to the competing team on any apparatus. They’ll train the same way as the team right up to Rio.
