Simone donates for COVID-19 relief

To be eligible to win some of that memorabilia, donate a minimum of $25 here.

Simone Biles donated a signed leotard. Michael Phelps offered an autographed swimsuit. Shaun White promised a snowboard with his signature.

The trio of Olympic champions are among the growing list of athletes from more than a dozen sports who are participating in “Athletes for Relief,” a fundraising campaign to benefit coronavirus outbreak response efforts. …

Anyone who makes a contribution of at least $25 will be eligible to win, and all of the funds raised will go to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy …

SANDY SPOKOINY-FLORES:

We would like to suggest an immediate, nationwide 2-month freeze of mortgages and/or rent for our businesses, as well as for all homeowners and renters affected by these closures. …

Nancy Armour: Postpone Tokyo Olympics

No one wants to see the Olympics and Paralympics postponed. But it’s the right thing to do, the responsible thing to do.

IOC says Olympics are HAPPENING

As much of the sports world goes dark in an effort to limit the spread of the coronavirus, the International Olympic Committee looks to be the outlier. It has insisted for weeks, and continues to do so, that it plans to go ahead with the Olympics and Paralympics as scheduled.

“The International Olympic Committee confirms its full commitment to the success of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020,” IOC president Thomas Bach said Thursday …

… there are still 19 weeks until the Tokyo Olympics …

There’s no telling what conditions will be like in July. Or even late May, which is when the IOC would have to make the call …

NCAA Council considering eligibility relief

Great news.

Athletes who lost the end of their 2020 season may be able to apply for an additional year of competition.

On the other hand … Dave points out that Gymnastics is a Winter Sport, not a Spring Sport. If approved for Spring Sports, Gymnastics may have to petition to be added.
