I have a question. On the tumbling pass in which when he does the roundoff with a half twist in the second half, landing with his feet pointing the direction he is heading, does the next trick count as a front tumbling skill, or does it count as a back tumbling skill and include that half twist that was done during the roundoff? Curious how that works. I guess the roundoff with the half twist out could just be an alternative to a front handspring as an entry to front tumbling skills. Or it could be a kind of cheat for back tumbling to get in an extra half twist before takeoff. So I wondered how the skills are counted and how it is judged.

I spoke to one of the FIG MTC members about that after seeing one gymnast get away with it at Worlds 2023. He told me that MTC will be discussing it — and that it would likely be considered forward if the feet are more than 90 degrees turned on takeoff of a backward slate.
