Shilese JONES leads Worlds

After the first qualifying rotation:

JONES Shilese 55.766

CAREY Jade 55.132

After a terrific first 3 apparatus, Jordan Chiles (53.998) had two surprising falls on Beam. The 11.366 dropped her behind two teammates, so won’t qualify for the AA Final.

USA was impressive, despite one fall on Bars and two on Beam.

Worlds Schmerlds.

The BIG news of the day is that 38-year-old Vasiliki Millousi is going to resume training.

A triple Olympian and many time international medal winner on Beam, she was always a fan favourite.

Married to Olympic Champion Eleftherios Petrounias, Vasiliki only stopped Gymnastics to have 2 kids.

They run a Gym. She started training again for fun and decided to go for Elite again.

STOP WAR

Illia KOVTUN from Ukraine is wearing a STOP WAR t-shirt at Podium Training. OK, I think.  And of course I agree with him.

Putin’s invasion of a neighbouring nation took out both Olympic Champion teams from our sport.  And killed many innocent people.

STOP WAR.

Of course training for this competition has been super challenging for Ukraine. Their athletes have been all over the world trying to get ready.

Yulo’s Vaults for Liverpool

The defending World Champ looks the man to beat in 2022.

He’s got the difficulty. And the best execution of any of the top guys.

For me he’s the favourite on both Floor and Vault.
