One of Bela’s coaches Joe Stouffer posted a heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported her 4 year quest to represent Canada in the Olympics. I’d forgotten that Bela came out of the National Stream (Level 10), not the high performance stream.
It was hard work and “unflagging effort to improve” that got Bela to the biggest stage.

D-D Breaux, the school’s longtime gymnastics coach, is getting a 23 percent bump in pay to $240,000 and a two-year contract extension
Breaux is receiving a $45,000 raise from her previous salary of $195,000 — a boost that follows the program’s best finish at the national championships in April when it took second behind Oklahoma.
Breaux, a Donaldsonville native, is entering her 40th season leading the gymnastics program. …

My home club has hired a new coach, Wynand Pretorius from South Africa. He and his family recently arrived in the Great White North. The paperwork took about 18 months!
Myself and another alumni coach, Andrew Vetter, stopped by to welcome Wynand.
So far, so good. Altadore is an excellent training facility. Wynand will be very busy soon.
They are still looking for a new Men’s Head Coach, however. I recommend the position.
Altadore is celebrating its 50th Anniversary February 10-13, 2017 at the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary. I should be there. Though I didn’t start 50 years ago myself, I was one of the first boys in the Club. 🙂
