John Orozco out, Danell Leyva in

Blast. 😦

John Orozco injured his left knee on a horizontal bar dismount during the men’s Olympic Team Training Camp.

Orozco has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus, which is the same injury to that knee that happened in October 2012. As a result, Orozco has withdrawn from the team. Danell Leyva will replace him.

John was being counted on for Pommels, P Bars and H Bar. Of the alternates, Danell’s the best fit as replacement.

Axelle Klinckaert injured out of Rio

Terrible timing. 😦

… Axelle is the first casualty in terms of those already on teams forced to step aside. The Belgian team was training in Toulouse, France when Axelle felt a sharp pain in her left knee that prevented her from training. The injury is not serious, but a doctor determined that Axelle must miss three weeks of training, taking her recovery period right up to the start of the Olympic Games in the worst case of bad timing possible.

Rune Hermans, who earned a spot in the all-around final at worlds last year, will replace Axelle with Cindy Vandenhole and Julie Meyers moving into the first and second reserve spots. …
