Men’s Liverpool Qualifications highlights

Since the competition was not entirely streamed worldwide, you’ve probably heard it was a splatfest.

Not really. It started that wayUSA and China with many weird and surprising problems. Donnell getting a zero on Vault, for example.

But by the end of the meet I’d say it was a terrific competition. A fight for every Finals spot.

Depth. In fact, for Apparatus, IF we had 16 finalists instead of eight, there’s every chance a medalist would come from someone near the end of the list.

Top qualifiers from Ireland, Philippines and Armenia.

Many teams are very proud of their performance. I’d single out Canada and Hungary, for example.

More gymnasts are slowly learning not to compete difficulty that’s not close to perfect. Rings evaluation was particularly severe in Liverpool. It’s far better to go clean than risk a questionable strength skill. Especially Invert Cross.

Superb execution gymnasts include Yulo and Harald Wybe from Norway. Uchimura good.

Tyson Bull – H Bar

We feared the Aussie superstar might not be able to compete after he suffered a back injury training this apparatus in Podium.

Tyson was 5th in the Tokyo Olympics.

It was a game day medical decision.

AND he qualified to the Final in 8th spot with this brilliant routine. In fact he tied with teammate Mitchell Morgans, but won the tie-break. Mitchell will step in if any of the 8 finalists withdraw.
