Simone’s D-score 25.0

If there were doubts about the Simone Biles comeback, they’ve been silenced. Despite a slip on the uneven bars, the four-time Olympic gold medalist easily won the all-around and three events at last weekend’s U.S. Classic in Columbus, Ohio.

With the U.S. Championships just two weeks away in Boston, Biles looks poised for more success and add further weight to the argument that she is the greatest gymnast of all time. …

In Columbus, Biles received d-scores of:

  • 6.000, vault;
  • 6.100, uneven bars;
  • 6.300 balance beam;
  • 6.600 floor exercise.

Nina’s Beam

Nina DERWAEL is a Bars specialist. Right?

Hey, with a clean routine not counting dubious connections she qualified easily for the Beam final.

Click PLAY or watch it on Twitter.

Though there’s no AA competition this year, Nina would have been 3rd 54.365 behind Mélanie and Angelina.

European Championships results

The official results page does now have yesterday’s results in PDF format.

What did not work was LIVE scoring online. And LIVE scoring via the European Championships app.

If the company responsible — Atos — gets that working, I’ll post it here.

Recall European Championships 2017 also had problems with LIVE scoring. That time they used SMARTSCORING.

8 qualify to Europeans Team Final

France
Russia
Belgium
Great Britain
Netherlands
Hungary
Spain
Ukraine

Germany was knocked out by Beam falls.

Italy in 9th could have qualified with a better competition. Next year they will be one of the favourites when their awesome Juniors turn Senior.

Switzerland would have contended with Giulia Steingruber. Unfortunately she’s injured.

Romania was a long shot to qualify. They needed to have a near perfect meet. Five falls, at least, on Bars ended that dream. This is the first time in decades Romania has not qualified to Team.

It was an excellent competition. Much better than last year in Cluj. Shame fans around the world could neither watch it nor follow scores LIVE. ☹️

European Championships required Gymnastics to use ATOS for results. It didn’t work day 1. Let’s see if they can figure it out for day 2.

With that Belgium moved ahead of Netherlands in team qualifying ranking. I’m guessing both will get through to the top 8.
