One of Bela’s coaches Joe Stouffer posted a heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported her 4 year quest to represent Canada in the Olympics. I’d forgotten that Bela came out of the National Stream (Level 10), not the high performance stream.

It was hard work and “unflagging effort to improve” that got Bela to the biggest stage.

D-D Breaux, the school’s longtime gymnastics coach, is getting a 23 percent bump in pay to $240,000 and a two-year contract extension

Breaux is receiving a $45,000 raise from her previous salary of $195,000 — a boost that follows the program’s best finish at the national championships in April when it took second behind Oklahoma.

Breaux, a Donaldsonville native, is entering her 40th season leading the gymnastics program. …
