Georgia upsets LSU

Brittany wanted to compete the DTY for the first time in College against Ashleigh Gnat’s DTY. 🙂

Ashleigh won the vault and floor titles with a 9.95 and 9.925, respectively, to increase her team lead to 11 individual titles this season.

Eastern Michigan goes 196.6

The Eastern Michigan University women’s gymnastics team kept up their record-breaking ways today, Feb. 13, in a tri-meet win over Bowling Green and Southeast Missouri State. The Eagles were able to break into the 196’s for the first time in program history, finishing with a huge 196.6 to shatter the old record set Monday, Feb. 8, at Michigan.

“I’m obviously thrilled and extremely proud of the team,” remarked Head Coach Jay Santos. …

“We had a lot of great individual performances, but I think the highlight would have to be Natalie (Gervais) going 9.925 on beam with a gorgeous routine, and Lacey (Rubin) going right after her with a 9.9,” said Santos. …

Guard Young at BYU

A great update on the new coach at Brigham Young University.

“I’m having the time of my life being back here as a coach for BYU,” Young said.

In his first year as head coach, Young’s focus is getting the most he can out of the varsity team.

“He’s so different from every other coach I’ve ever had,” gymnast Sin To said. “He has so much love and passion for the sport that he wants you to do well.”

Young shares his passion and experience with the team. Young had the team sit in a circle before their first meet, sharing stories of their favorite gymnastics moments to remind them of their own passion for the sport.

“He really believes in us,” gymnast Emily Vidmar said. “He’s always telling us we can do it and he tells us that every day.” …
