Ohio State will host the two-day event on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16. The NCAA has pared down this year’s event from three days to two days. Event Finals will be included in Saturday’s Team and All-Around Finals. …

As in past years, a live video stream will be provided on the NCAA website, not to mention a live-scoring feed.

Stick It Media – Record-Breaking Weekend of College Men’s Gymnastics

Sadly the Men’s competition will be held the same weekend as the women’s Championships. Better for fans would be different weekends, as it was in 2015.

Hosted by Texas Woman’s University at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena, April 15-16. Same venue as last year.

Road to Nationals

I’ve attended Championships for the last 9 years. But I’ll be in Rio for the Olympic Test Meet this time. The dates conflict.

… the Eastern Michigan University women’s gymnastics team turned in an incredible meet in their first ever NCAA Regional, April 2. The Green and White finished with a team score of 196.250, and were just .0275 away from first-place Stanford and Auburn.

“We had three fantastic teams in front of us that we were going to have to beat,” explained Head Coach Jay Santos. … our kids stood toe-to-toe with those three strong teams. We were leading the meet after a few rotations, and we hung with three of the best teams in the country. I’m super proud of what we did today …”

At the conclusion of the meet, Jay Santos was named Regional Coach of the Year, while Jess Santos was named Regional Assistant Coach of the Year. …

This was a thriller.

Third-seeded Stanford posted a 196.525 team score, finishing tied for first with Auburn in a tough Ann Arbor regional. With the score, Stanford will head to NCAA Championships for the ninth time in the past 10 years. The Cardinal put together a bars rotation that scored a 49.500, a feat hard to achieve with a four-judge scoring panel. …

Michigan put on an incredible last apparatus run – a team record 49.675 on Bars – to fall just short.

But Eastern Michigan University was even more impressive in their first Regional Championships ever. There was every chance they could have qualified to Championships. 🙂 Congratulations to coach Jay Santos.

Coach D-D Breaux’s team easily claimed the title when it surpassed the 197 mark for the sixth consecutive meet and the seventh time in the past eight competitions.

Georgia earned the other spot at nationals with a 196.850 and will join LSU in Semifinal I at 1 p.m. April 15 in the Fort Worth (Texas) Convention Center. …
