Simone’s Mic Drop

A mic drop is the gesture of intentionally dropping one’s microphone at the end of a performance or speech to signal triumph. Don’t do that … unless you are the G.O.A.T.

And you add it to your choreography at the end of the 4th apparatus. 5th AA title.

Then it’s very cool. 😊

Now that Simone won in the same arena, let’s look back at the 1989 Stuttgart World Champion.

Thirty years ago, the Soviet squad, one of the greatest women’s gymnastics teams ever assembled, won the team gold medal at the 1989 world championships in Stuttgart.

… Soviet gymnasts showcased difficulty that was years ahead its time and they performed with style to spare. Their floor rotation was one for the ages—Olga Strazheva performed to Igor Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring,” Olesya Dudnik to Gershwin’s “Second Rhapsody,” and Natalia Laschenova’s to Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King.”

The star of the team was Svetlana Boguinskaia, who won both the all-around and floor titles …

To me it looks like Lieke has never been better.

It’s difficult to see, but she has an unusual tape wrap high on one leg.

No longer is Team Netherlands a surprise qualifier to the team final. They should be top 8 with a good prelim competition.

Tumbl Trak Air Floor

My favourite air floor is the Tumbl Trak Air Floor. It comes in 3m, 4.5m, and 6m lengths. I recommend you get more 3m sections rather than the longer versions as it gives you more options for configuration.

Use the Air Floor as the last step before the competition floor.
