Mykayla Skinner – Floor

Judging “mitigation“:

… lessening the force or intensity of something unpleasant … the act of making a condition or consequence less severe …

Like it or not, judges are influenced by difficulty. MyKayla’s routine is far, far more difficult than any other in NCAA. Many judges evaluate it less severely than the comparatively simple 10.0 routines with only 2 tumbling lines.

Personally I feel the NCAA is ready for rule changes rewarding more difficulty legally. O’Hashi on Beam, Peng on Bars, Mykayla on Floor, the double twisting Yurchenkos, etc.

NCAA in 2017

Can anything stop Oklahoma’s Maggie Nichols from taking home the top title at NCAA Championships?

Denelle Pedrick – DTY

The Saskatchewan Freshman competing for Central Michigan is suddenly n apparatus Finals contender contender for National Champion.

(I’d forgotten that NCAA did away with apparatus finals.)
