Tang Chia-Hung in Paris

Definitely a gold medal contender on H Bar.

Recovered from the injury that cost him most of his 2023 season

The gymnast known as the “King of Cats” blew past the competition to win the Horizontal Bar title at last weekend’s World Challenge Cup in Osijek (CRO), scoring 15.350 for a new routine that included five different release skills: three Tkatchev elements, a Cassina, and an unusual Walstrom (Yamawaki with full turn).

His 15.350 (which carries a 6.5 difficulty tariff) was higher than the 15.233 Hashimoto Daiki (JPN) received when winning the World title on the apparatus last autumn …

Hashimoto Daiki leads 2024 All-Japan

Hashimoto has already secured his Olympic spot on the Japanese team by winning the all-around competition at the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. However, for the rest of the field, this competition is a critical step towards making the Olympic team.

The depth of the Japanese team is shown by how many athletes are capable of score over the coveted 80 mark; today, 45 Japanese gymnasts scored over 80. Compared to the most recent U.S. national championships where 14 athletes scored over 80 or the most recent British national championship where only three athletes managed that feat, it’s easy to see why the Japanese are so strong in international competition.

Grand Paris Express Métro

Paris already has one of the biggest and busiest subway networks in the world.

Simultaneous with Olympics 2024 construction, over 200km more are being built. 68 brand-new stations. The plan is to travel around the city, rather than crossing the congested centre.

It’s called the Grand Paris Express.

Of course there will be an economic boost everywhere easily accessible by the 4 new lines.

Hopefully, Paris will be one Olympic host where the legacy benefits outweighs the incredible cost for a … circus.

Mark Robinson v Simone Biles

North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson has been called “the GOP’s next top lunatic”.

Sure he’s homophobic, anti-semitic, an election denier, anti-science, anti-woman — BUT what made Gymnastics fans mad was when he dissed the greatest gymnast of all time.

Something tells me candidate Mark Robinson never did Gymnastics. 😀

USAG bungles Gabby petition

There should be criteria for WHO can be invited to U.S. National Team Camps.

If you don’t meet criteria, you MIGHT not have a petition accepted.

However — USAG did not have that criteria posted soon enough. In light of that oversight, had I a vote, 2012 Olympic champion Gabby Douglas would have been invited.

Even if there is no ill intent towards Gabby, it LOOKS BAD for an organization that is still trying to improve their reputation for fairness from the many, many wrong decisions of the past.

Listen to the specifics of this issue on the GymCastic PODCAST episode posted April 1, 2024.
