Defying Gravity – part 6

The final episode is all about TEAM. A feel good finale.

Much time is spent revisiting the Magnificent 7 in Atlanta and the other U.S. Olympic teams.

Blythe reminded us that Keri didn’t actually need to do her second vault to clinch the team gold for USA.

The highlight for me was Mykayla Skinner’s story. Inspiring. That young woman really turned her life around through Gymnastics.

Sadly she’s currently suffering Achilles pain.

FIG Friendship & Solidarity competition

Nov 8th.

Tokyo. Team Friendship v Team Solidarity.

Each team is made of 8 female and 8 male athletes. These gymnasts either come from China, Russia, the United States and Japan, or are training in Japan.

In my mind, the Vault judges were most responsible for not checking their apparatus was set correctly.

Still, it was surprising that no coach or gymnasts figured it out sooner.
