Peng’s 10.0 Beam Final

Tiny foot movement on landing. But nobody is complaining. This is one of the best and most difficult Beam routines in College Gymnastics.

There’s still talk of Peng applying for a 6th year at UCLA due to injury. No talk yet of her trying out for the Canadian team to Worlds 2017 Montreal (though she’d certainly have a good chance on Beam and Bars).

Oklahoma Wins Super Six

If you missed the competition last night, FloGymnastics has a good wrap-up.

Oklahoma Wins 2017 NCAA Super Six With Record-Breaking 198.3875

Or you can read the snarky Balance Beam Situation LIVE blog. He wasn’t impressed with the judging.

SEASON ENDS FOR BEAVERS WITH SIXTH PLACE FINISH AT NCAAS

Oklahoma, LSU, Florida

1. Oklahoma- 198.3875
2. LSU- 197.7375
3. Florida- 197.7000
4. UCLA- 197.2625
5. Utah- 196.5875
6. Alabama- 196.0000

I would have been happier with a tie between the Tigers and the Gators. It could have gone either way.

The first rotation of six was a disaster. After that there were many, many highlights.

Overall this was the best NCAA season I can recall. Looking forward to 2018. 🙂

Oklahoma – DYNASTY

Can they match the Kupets Georgia dynasty? I think so.

An incredible historic team performance for the Sooners. The highest score — 198.3875 — in NCAA Super 6 history.

Super 6 in 2017

Lauren Hopkins:

I can’t remember any other NCAA season in which the top six teams set themselves at such a high level that they not only remained firm in the average and RQS rankings all season, but also qualified team by team into the Super Six at NCAA Championships.

This might be boring if the teams weren’t so impressive. Generally there’s usually at least one or two teams outside the top six rankings bubble that can fight their way in, and you actually really want them to, if only to make things more exciting …

Balance Beam Situation

NCAA Bars champions …

Yep.

McMurtry/Bailey/Finnegan/Ross/Lehrmann/Nichols/Kupets/Dabritz/Ding/Liukin … I may be missing a few. 🙂

You’d think having 6 judges would reduce the number of ties.
