Will Graves – NAIGC interview

The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INTERCOLLEGIATE GYMNASTICS CLUBS (NAIGC) wants to “serve and expand opportunities for all levels of collegiate and adult gymnastics by providing structure for competition on local, regional, and national levels; facilitating communication; and building a community of support and camaraderie that encourages sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and fun.”

One part of that is offering the chance for anyone 18 and older to compete the Women’s Artistic apparatus. Anyone can compete the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics apparatus. Or both, if you choose.

Freedom.

Top sports journalist, Will Graves, covered their 2025 Nationals in Pittsburgh, PA from April 2-5.

He wrote an important article for the Associated Press. It’s important because Americans are living under a Presidency that attacks minorities to gain votes from the intolerant. The GOP hopes to motivate people to show up to vote by encouraging them to HATE.

Trans athletes are under more scrutiny than ever. Some have found a safe space in gymnastics

history of Women’s NCAA Gymnastics

Nobody was a more important builder of the super successful College program than former Utah Coach Greg Marsden.

The inaugural Women’s College Gymnastics Championships were organized by the Division for Girls’ and Women’s Sports (DGWS) in 1969. The NCAA didn't sponsor WAG Champs until 1982. Over the years, there have been significant format changes.

Taylor Christopolus wins ’25 Nissen-Emery

Presented at a ceremony before the start of the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships … the nation’s top senior male gymnast who exemplifies excellence in athletic performance, scholarship, and sportsmanship.

Nebraska men’s gymnast Taylor Christopulos was named the recipient of the Nissan-Emery Award, Nebraska’s fourth all-time and first in 37 years as Tom Schlesinger won the award for NU in 1988 under head coach Francis Allen.  …

Christopulos is an eight time All-American recently winning his second Big Ten Gymnast of the Year honor. He has won 27 individual titles including one in every event. Off the mat, he is a five-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship team and has been named to the scholar-athlete honor roll every semester at Nebraska.

Missouri 3rd at NCAA Championships ’25

Following a scoring inquiry, Amy Wier’s balance beam score was changed to 9.850, earning Mizzou a third-place finish over Utah.

Michigan unthrones Stanford

As Stanford had won the last 5 championships, I ASSuMEd they’d pull off victory #6 in 2025.

BUT Fred Richard and Michigan Men’s Gymnastics took the victory. At home.

Congratulations.

Champions ’25 OKLAHOMA

Getting knocked out early in 2024 is forgotten. OU is — again — the NCAA team to beat.

Oklahoma has won 3 of the last 4 National Championships.

  1. Oklahoma 198.0125
  2. UCLA 197.6125
  3. Missouri 197.2500 … score corrected
  4. Utah 197.2375
