Axelle Klinckaert injured out of Rio

Terrible timing. 😦

… Axelle is the first casualty in terms of those already on teams forced to step aside. The Belgian team was training in Toulouse, France when Axelle felt a sharp pain in her left knee that prevented her from training. The injury is not serious, but a doctor determined that Axelle must miss three weeks of training, taking her recovery period right up to the start of the Olympic Games in the worst case of bad timing possible.

Rune Hermans, who earned a spot in the all-around final at worlds last year, will replace Axelle with Cindy Vandenhole and Julie Meyers moving into the first and second reserve spots. …

One of the best Beam workers in the world has often struggled with dismounts. She’s switched to layout Gainer.

She’s traveling to Rio. Will be training at a club just in case needed to replace Ponor.

Laurie Hernandez – Olympian

I don’t think there are any doubters left. Laurie is the real deal. And a real threat for an Olympic AA medal.

Her Beam precision matches the best of the Chinese gymnasts. I don’t anticipate USA being weak on Beam in Rio. 🙂

Wolf turns are over-valued. I’d love to see fewer.
