Jade is good at the Gymnastic 😀

Jade Carey. Legendary season.

Yesterday she won the AA and (at least) shared the title on all 4 apparatus.

the 50 top male gymnasts since 1948

By this criteria, Uchimura is only #4.

That’s like ranking Michael Jordan #4 in Basketball. I’d have both higher on my totally subjective rankings. 😀

Obituary – Coach Ed Vincent

Read and comment here.

A service will be held for Coach Ed Vincent on Friday April 25, in Calgary, Alberta.

He inspired me and everyone else at Altadore Gym Club over 50 years with the club. 2024 Olympic Floor champion Kyle Shewfelt is just one of those athletes inspired by Ed’s enthusiasm for the sport.

The annual Altadore Invitational competition is named for Ed Vincent in his memory.

remembering Akinori Nakayama

When I was a young gymnast, the Japanese were best in the world.

Of all the superstars of the day, my favourite was Akinori Nakayama.

With six Olympic titles and 10 Olympic medals, the awe-inspiring Nakayama Akinori (JPN) was a man apart even in the pantheon of Japan’s greatest gymnasts.

An impeccable performer who was consistently among the best in the world on five apparatus during the 1960s and 1970s, Nakayama, who passed away on 9 March at age 82, inspired wonder by winning four of the eight Olympic titles in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics at the 1968 Olympic Games. …
