A Cypriot rhythmic gymnastics judge has been banned for four years for manipulating scores to help her compatriot qualify for the Paris Olympics.
The Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) found that judge Evangelia Trikomiti altered the scores at the European Championships to ensure Vera Tugolukova clinched the final European qualifying spot for the Olympics. …
European Gymnastics said it would consult with lawyers before considering an appeal.
The Cyprus Gymnastics Federation said it would “thoroughly review” the ruling.

I believe it should be noted that the russian gymnast was ranking above the polish in several competitions prior to the European championships .Wondering how all of a sudden the Polish federation accuses for score changing in the European championship, it sounds a bit fishy i think. This case should be examined by CAS to get the whole truth out

Please get your facts straight.
They Cyprus Gymnastics Federation DID NOT manipulate scores to help her **compatriot** qualify for the Paris Olympics.
VERA IS RUSSIAN BORN, TRAINED AND WAS THERE UNTIL THE VERY LAST SECOND. She is not Cypriot and has NOTHING to do with Cyprus.
the Cyprus gymnastics federation, ie: the Trikomiti family, were paid by Vera’s parents who are russian expats living in cyprus and have a russian registered company, to a) be given a cypriot passport and be legally allowed to represent the island and b) make sure one of Viner’s left overs made it to the olympics so russia could say it wasn’t left out.
She’s a decent gymnast and a child who was used for money making and political stupidity.
How ever, what they did to Poland is sick. doesn’t matter who is better, it was a complete scam. I wish she made gold just so they could raise the cyprus flag over her head whilst she stood there stupid and unable to sing the anthem!!! – the trikomiti family are supporters of Cyprus’ and Greece’s far right movement, i can’t see how they were ok with any of this, minus the backhander that they most likely received.
It goes without saying what is happening on a local level with them having all the control is unimaginable. there are russian born and bred gymnasts in Cyprus who fight hard to train under third world conditions who deserve better. And the actual Cypriot gymnasts in Cyprus deserve the world after the hell they’ve been put through.
